PREMIER Runs Overtime (PRO) brought their second session to another level with players from Miri joining in on Sunday.
They had invited players from the Spartans Pro team for high-intensity matches over a three-hour session at the Tutong Chung Hwa Basketball court.
Team captain Lee Chi Hong, Vincent Chua Sing Siong, Jordan Wong Yao Min, Elvint Chia, Tan Jit Hao and Darren Siew Weng Hua were the players that made the trip across to the border to the Sultanate.
"This is so much we can do to level up our talent pool in Brunei including the green IC players," said Wira Pori in an interview with BruSports News.
"By injecting new blood that is not local to the scene, hopefully our players are forced to reach deep into their bag and from there understand what it takes to not only play basketball overseas but also to represent Brunei someday in the future," he added.
PRO, which launched in September, is currently on an invitation basis bringing the top talents in the country together for scrimmages.
Wira highlighted that those not invited this time will still have a chance for upcoming sessions.
"There will always be an opportunity for every event," said Wira.
"Just come to all level 1 sessions and make yourself available to move up to level 2.
"We need players to attend and from there we hope to see bigger and better players over time," he concluded.
There are currently over 100 players that have enrolled for these sessions.
Level 1 sessions are open to all players - beginners, pros, young, old, women, and men -and everyone is welcome to play in a friendly, non-competitive environment.
They are currently held across three districts: Belait (Tuesdays from 5 - 6.30 pm at Kg Baru Basketball court), Tutong (Wednesdays from 7-9 pm) and Brunei-Muara (Saturdays from 7 - 9 pm at BBA Court in Batu Bersurat).
On the other hand, Level 2 is for players looking to elevate their game.
To join, members must attend at least four Level 1 sessions and meet basic skill requirements.
Training is then held weekly to ensure players are ready for the national team call up when needed.
If a player’s fitness, skill, or commitment declines, they may be moved back to Level 1.
