BRUNEI are on top of the world as the duo of Abel Lim and Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain struck gold in the men's duilian event at the 3rd Taolu World Cup in Japan.
The pair recorded 9.683 points to finish at the top of the podium at the Yokohama Buntai.
The Philippines clinched the silver medal with their score of 9.450 points followed by Spain in third place a further 0.067 points behind.
"I still can't believe it," said Lim to BruSports News when contacted.
"Of course I'm very happy to win the gold at such a big competition.
"I just want to thank my coach (Li Hui) for teaching me and giving me this opportunity," he added.
It is another successful outing for the national wushu team as they will return home with a total of one gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
The other two podium finishes were courtesy of Mohammad Adi Salihin Roslan.
He won the silver in the men's nangun event on Saturday morning and followed that up with third place finish in the nandao event.
He tallied 9.760 points matching with runner-up Calvin Lee of Malaysia.
China's Bu Dowen claimed the gold on 9.800 points.
Only the top-eight athletes from the World Wushu Championships held in the USA in November last year qualified for the two-day event in Japan.
Siblings Basma and Walid Lachkar and Hosea Wong were the other athletes who represented Brunei while Lim Yee Sean missed out due to A' Level examinations.
