Basma wins gold, qualifies for World Games 2025

NATIONAL wushu athlete Basma Lachkar just can't stop winning at the moment.

The 21-year-old added another medal to her cabinet after winning gold in the women's taijiquan - taijijian combined event at the inaugural World Games series 2024 in Hong Kong.

Basma tallied a total of 19.323 points to finish top of the podium in a field of eight contestants at Go Park Shai Sha on Sunday.

Indonesia's Salwaa Dhana Azalia took the runner-up spot with her score of 19.316 points.

Juanita Mok Uen Ying of Hong Kong clinched the bronze on 19.259 points.

For Basma, the victory secures her a spot in the World Games 2025 - which is held the year after the Olympics and consists of sports which weren't contested then.

She won gold in the last edition held in Birmingham, USA in 2022.

Lim Yee Sean was the other Bruneian in the event and she finished sixth after her performance was awarded 18.773 points.
