DPMM FC succumbed to their first ever defeat against the Young Lions in the Singapore Premier League after falling 3-1 on Saturday.

The victory at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore was the first for the Young Lions in 28 meetings dating back to 2012.

They had a great start and opened the scoring under two minutes into the game.

Farhan Zulkifli made a good run down the right before putting the ball down the middle for Itsuki Ernomoto to slot home.

Farshad Noor was brought down just inside the edge of the box in the 27th minute.

After VAR checks, it was a deemed a foul and a penalty awarded to DPMM FC.

Hakeme Said made no mistake from the spot to bulge the net for his second goal of the season.

The Young Lions needed only five minutes into the second half to go back in front.

The DPMM FC backline failed to deal with a cross from the left and the ball fell nicely for Farhan, whose shot went in between Kristijan Naumovski's legs.

DPMM FC had back-to-back chances in a span of four minutes but failed to capitalise.

Miguel Oliveira was the instigator for both as the first was a ball to the middle from the right but Hakeme couldn't get a touch to it at the far post.

The Portuguese winger then produced a cutback for Hakeme and this time his shot from seven yards out came off the woodwork.

Instead, the Young Lions put the game to bed with another goal in the 77th minute.

Farhan was given space with no pressure and he sent a nice lob over the DPMM FC backline for Ernomoto to complete a brace.

The result saw the Young Lions leapfrog their opponents into fifth position with 10 points from 10 matches.

On the other hand, DPMM FC are winless in seven games and are stuck on eight points with a game in hand.

The Brunei side will next face the Lion City Sailors at the Bishan Stadium on August 3.
