Tutong Basketball beat GHK to clinch bronze

TUTONG Basketball clinched the bronze medal after defeating GHK 77-63 in the third-place playoff of the GHK Tutong Cup on Sunday.

They capped off the match with a 14-0 run in the final five minutes enroute to victory.

Lester Teo scored a game-high of 24 points to lead Tutong Basketball.

Teo Jyh Shiun added 21 and Wong Leh Kee notched 16 in the triumph.

On the other hand, Kho Leang Teck topscored for GHK with 16 points while Tshi San Bun contributed 11.

It was a closely contested first half with several lead changes at the Tutong Chung Hwa Basketball Court.

Tutong Basketball opened up the largest lead of the game at 48-36 midway through the third stanza after a three-pointer by Lester.

GHK remained composed and turned it around by getting their outside shots to fall.

Tutong Basketball also missed a handful of easy baskets to allow their opponents to creep back into the encounter.

Liu Kun Shyong beat the buzzer with a three-pointer off the glass to put GHK back in front 53-51 going into the decisive frame.

Both sides exchanged baskets and GHK stayed ahead 63-60 halfway through the quarter.

Tutong Basketball regained the lead after a layup by Wong in transition with 3:54 left and never looked back.

GHK took a timeout then but never recovered as Tutong Basketball simply ran away for the victory.
