EASYWAY are looking to be in contention for this year's YOU.C1000 Cup.
It was heartbreak for the five-time winners as they finished runners-up last year after losing 105-102 to D'Barkadz in the final.
The majority of the lineup this year is made up of players that represented Brunei at the recently concluded Borneo City Basketball Tournament.
The group of Jeremy Chu, Jonathan Lim, William Ching, Lim Liang Wei, Chan Yung Ken, Kelvin Chai, Wong Lim Shean, Darren Lee and Edwin Oei all made the trip to Miri.
Jake Chong and Devon Lim are the other two players to complete the roster.
"We hope to do better than last year," said Easyway manager Wira Pori to BruSports News.
"The target is to cultivate the new generation of Easyway players and strive to be in medal contention amidst a very competitive field," he added.
Easyway will open their Group B campaign against Yuni-ku on Saturday at 8.30pm.
Midnight Media Mavericks and Patriots are the other two teams in the group.
When asked on which teams to watch out for in the annual competition, Wira replied: "Every team is a championship contender.
"To look out for a few is to risk being blindsided by others hence everyone is considered a threat," he concluded.
