DPMM FC are in a confident mood heading into their Singapore Premier League opener against the Young Lions on Saturday.

"We expect to start well in the League and have confidence after our pre-season," said DPMM FC head coach Rui Capela Batista.

"The players are now in good shape and expect to get a good result. We are there to win the match," he added

DPMM FC played five games during their pre-season - winning one, drawing one and losing one.

The loss came against Selangor FC where they fell 4-0.

"It is normal as we learn when we lose and find out what we need to improve," added the Portuguese coach.

"But over the past five weeks I feel we are ready to start the League," he added.

The Brunei side will be without Mexican striker Julio Cruz for the opener due to paperwork issues.

"There are some worries as we need a striker," said the 54-year-old.

"I have got to know my players now and it is not a big problem. But we will need him in the second match," he concluded.
