THERE was no fairytale ending for St Andrew's School (SAS) as Jerudong International School (JIS) ran away with the Inter-School Basketball Tournament title after a 100-58 victory on Saturday.
Jaron On led the way for JIS in the final with a game-high of 21 points.
The pair of Adam Lee and Gerald Phua added 17 each while Nicholas Yap contributed 13 to his name.
On the other hand, Muhammad Zarif topscored for SAS with 16 points.
The duo of Blair Kwan and Phoan Chung Siang notched 12 points apiece in the defeat.
SAS were aggressive in the early going drawing fouls off their opponents.
It was 2-0 in favour of SAS after over two minutes resulting in a JIS timeout.
They then scored nine unanswered points - mostly in transition.
SAS finally got their first field goal midway through at the packed BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
JIS dominated the boards with their height and jumped out to a 21-10 lead going into the second frame.
Foul trouble crept in for the front court of JIS and SAS held their ground to stay close.
But a six-point swing by Lee in the last two minutes to end the half put JIS up 42-28 at halftime.
SAS used a six-point run early after the interval to make it 48-36.
But it went downhill from there as JIS scored 13 straight without reply - all from the break.
SAS called a timeout and they ended the run but only briefly.
It turned one way street from then as SAS simply had no answer to the JIS fastbreaks.
The advantage ballooned to 72-40 by the end of the third stanza.
