Bronze for Basma at World Wushu Championships

NATIONAL wushu athlete Basma Lachkar continued to shine on the international stage.

This time at the 16th World Wushu Championships in Texas, USA after she bagged the bronze medal in the women's taijiquan women on Sunday morning (Brunei time).

Basma tallied 9.770 to take third place in the 13-contestant field at the Fort Worth Convention Centre.

Singapore's Zeanne Law finished at the top of the podium with 9.776 points.

Agatha Wong managed the same points but settled for second place.

On the other hand, Lim Yee Sean was the other Bruneian in the event as she scored 9.646 points to finish in sixth.

Basma gave thanks to her coaches for the work put in to end the year on a high.

"Alhamdulillah, I'm just relieved that I'm finally done for the year," said Basma in an interview with BruSports News.

"It was a rough start, but I want to thank Coach Zhao (Chunjie) and Coach Li (Hui) for believing in me and supported me.

"Also, like every other competition, I put all my trust in Allah at the end of the day," she concluded.

Basma has had a magnificent year having won a historic silver medal at the Asian Games in September.

She also won a bronze at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in May.
