ZEKE Chan has done it again.
He won the silver medal in the boy's 16-18 100m backstroke event at the 45th SEA Age Group Swimming Championships in Jakarta on Thursday.
The 16-year-old had ended Brunei's medal drought in the same event in Kuala Lumpur last year.
He set a new national record in the process after finishing with a time of 59.18 seconds edging third-place finisher Ivo Nikolai Enot of the Philippines by 0.03s.
The time beats his previous record of 59.61s set at the World Aquatics Championships in Japan in July.
Vietnamese Tran Tuan Ahn Mai won the event with a time of 57.83s at the Gelora Bung Karno Aquatics Stadium.
Meanwhile, Brunei's Matthias Jordan Narcis is the youngest competitor at the August 24-26 Championships at 11 years old.
Contesting in the 13 & under category, he managed to set three new personal bests.
He smashed his previous time in the 400m free style event finishing on 5:29.88 better it by 28.53s.
The other two came in the 100m butterfly (1:27.58) and 50m freestyle events (34.05s).
Brunei is represented by a total of eight swimmers - Joel Ling, siblings Hayley, Dylan and Abbey Wong, Danniel Chan and Sharmeen Mohammad Mharvin - being the others.
