TEE Chun Keat of Dalat Racing Team fended off nine other challengers to emerge the overall winner of the 300 Open category of the BJSA (Brunei Jet Sports Association) Runabout Jet Ski Race 2023 on Sunday.
Having won the first two races of the day, the Sibu-based team rider got off to a slow start in final race.
But it was enough for him to make up ground complete the event with a total of 48 points at the Serasa Water Sports Complex.
He walked away with a cash prize of $1,000 and a trophy.
Abd Aziz Hanafi Ismail of Jetline Racing Team and Jetstar Racing Team's Christopher Keasberry both had matching 44 points.
The former claimed the runner-up spot with better finishing from the three races.
Tan Kah Boon of Jetforce Racing Team was a further two points behind followed by Hj Idzham Hj Mashud of Jetstar completing the top-five.
Over in the 200 Open category, Abd Aziz finished top of the podium with 58 points while Keasberry settled for second place.
Yong Ji Zen notched 44 points to round off the top-three.
Mohd Affendy Kadri, racing under the banner of Viking Team of Kuching, was crowned champion in the 130 Open category.
He tallied 56 points from three races to beat Hj Idzham by six points.
Raiyan Marsal Baharuddin finished second runner-up with 44 points.
Present as the guest of honour to hand out the prizes to the winners was the Director of Youth and Sports Umi Kalthum Hj Abdul Karim.
The organisers thanked their sponsors Hai Hwang Trading Co, Yamaha, Yamalube, Liqui Moly, Southern Cross Travel Agency and Connex for making the competition possible.
