BRUNEI has been drawn against Indonesia in Round 1 of the Preliminary Joint Qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
The draw was held on Thursday at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.
The first leg is scheduled to be contested in Indonesia on Oct 12 while the return leg at home will be played five days later.
The winner will advance to Group F together with Iraq, Vietnam and the Philippines in the second round.
The Wasps last faced Indonesia in the group stages of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup in December last year.
Contested at the KLFA Stadium in Malaysia, Brunei succumbed to a 7-0 defeat.
Indonesia were only up a goal before Alinur Rashimy Jufri was sent off in the 38th minute allowing them to open the floodgates.
In their last World Cup qualifiers in 2019, Brunei lost 3-2 on aggregate against Mongolia.
