SGTB dispatch Tutong Basketball for first win

SGTB (Still Got the Blues) pulled away in the third quarter to defeat Tutong Basketball 89-65 in Group D of the YOU.C1000 Cup on Saturday.

SGTB had distributed scoring with Louie Escopete leading the way with a game-high of 15 points while Arvin Castro added 13.

The quartet of Allen Salvador, Joel Comeros, Gerald Balaota and Alsaid Jauhali all notched 10 points each in the triumph.

On the other hand, Lester Teo topscored for Tutong with 12 points.

The duo of Mike Teo and Darrell Neo poured in 10 apiece, in what was Tutong's second consecutive defeat.

SGTB were aggressive in getting into the paint to score and quickly jumped in front.

Tutong, in contrast, were settling for outside shots and were not helped by poor freethrow shooting at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.

The game was still within reach at the interval when Neo went coast to coast to cut the deficit to 43-32 before the halftime buzzer.

SGTB then outscored their opponents 25-11 in the next 10 minutes.

Tutong simply couldn't get anything going on offence and threw the ball away several times.

SGTB were in cruise control and an Erwin Malit putback saw them up 68-43 going into the final frame enroute to victory.

The earlier game saw Linktech defeat FBC 94-74 in Group C.

Jomer Conol poured in 18 points to pace Linktech in the win.

The trio of Alowyin Yu, Reymundo Maquiraya, Lu Yong all had 14 points each.

John Jayzenn was the other in double figures with 11.

On the opposite side, Asyraf Juelar had a game-high of 23 points for FBC in a losing effort.

Nur Hassan Jauhali chipped in 13 while Francis Juelar and Marion Pineda dropped 12 and 10 respectively in the loss.
