THE YOU.C1000 Cup (popularly known as the Sultan’s Cup) is set to tip off on June 17 following a sponsorship ceremony yesterday at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
YOU.C1000, the title sponsors and official sports drink for the competition, was represented by the general manager of Hui Huang Enterprise, Katherine Hii.
She presented a mock cheque of $13,000 to Lim Fung, the BBA secretariat general.
The annual competition, which is held in conjunction with His Majesty’s 77th Birthday celebrations, will feature a total of 18 men's teams separated into four groups.
The top three teams last year have been drawn into the same group.
Defending champions Fuzhou Shiyyi Association TK Teahouse and Easyway are all in Group A.
Medix is the other team in the Group of Death.
Parekoy, Propel, Bandar Rockets, Unity and Wan Sing make up Group B.
Group C consists of D'Barkadz, FBC, Sawaddee House and Linktech - Bob.
Last but not least, SGTB, GS Spectra, Tutong Basketball, HL Jaya and Tojima - Kiulap Warrior complete Group D.
The tournament - which will run till July 15 -also attracted three women's teams with Le Doux Patisserie, GHK and Yokohama vying for top honours.
