Three gold medals for Brunei at ASEAN Para Games

BRUNEI will bring home a haul of three gold, three silver and two bronze medals from the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia.

All of the country's podium finishes came from athletics at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh.

Nor Hensan Hj Mataha was the biggest winner as she won two gold medals.

She triumphed in the women's shot put F11 event with distance of 7.00 metres.

Indonesia's Ratnaningsih came second with her throw of 6.81m while Nguyen Thi Chin completed the podium with her effort of 6.10m.

Her second gold came from the women's discus throw F11 where she managed a distance of 22.94m.

Thi Chin came second on 22.07m while Rosalie Wuino Torrefiel of the Philippines took the bronze with 19.57m.

Nor Hensan's brother, Raduan, bagged the other gold after he finished at the top of the podium in the men's shot put F11.

He produced a throw of 7.75m to finish ahead of Cambodia's Sambath Samban, who threw 5.16m.

Raduan also added a silver medal in the men's discus throw F11.

The other two silver medals were courtesy of Alihan Muda in the men's shot put and discus throw F34 events.

Last but not least, Shari Hj Juma'at pocketed two bronze medals in the men's discus throw and javelin throw F55 events.

Brunei sent a total of 12 athletes to compete in three sports - swimming and badminton being the others - at the June 3 - 9 competition.
