Hosea Wong strikes second gold for Brunei

THIRD time's the charm for Hosea Wong Zheng Yu.

The national wushu athlete captured Brunei's second gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games after winning the men's taijiquan + taijijian event on Friday.

He had won silver in the taijiquan event and bronze in the taijijian event in 2019 and just missed out on the podium in the last edition.

This time he ensured be finished on top of the podium with a combined tally of 18.189 points to beat 10 other participants at the Chroy Changvar Convention Centre in Phnom Penh.

Tay Yu Xuan of Singapore took the silver medal with 19.119 points followed by Malaysia's Tan Zhi Yan with 18.94 points for the bronze.

Over in the women's tajijiquan + taijijian event, Basma Lachkar notched points 19.160 points to grab the bronze.

Agatha Wong of the Philippines continued her dominance and took home the gold - her fifth in the SEA Games with her tally 19.263 points.

Malaysia's Sydney Chin claimed the silver with 19.196 points.

Lim Yee Sean was the other Bruneian part of the nine-athlete field and she placed sixth with 18.599 points.

This is best showing to date at the biennial Games for the wushu team as they will return with two gold and two bronze medals.

Mohammad Adi Salihin Roslan had captured Brunei's first gold in the men's nanquan on Wednesday.

The other bronze was from the men's duilian event courtesy of the duo of Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain and Abel Lim Wee Yuan.
