Adi Salihin completes golden hat-trick at SEA Games

NATIONAL wushu athlete Mohammad Adi Salihin Roslan has done it again.

He clinched Brunei's first gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games after winning the men's nanquan event on Wednesday.

This is the third consecutive Games where he has landed at the top of the podium - making him the most decorated sportsperson for the Sultanate.

Adi Salihin finished with 9.636 points to defeat 11 other competitors at the Chroy Changvar Convention Centre in Phnom Penh.

Indonesia's Horatius Harris finished in second place with 9.553 points while Nong Van Huu of Vietnam completed the podium with 9.645 points - the same top-three placements in the event from the last edition.

The duo of Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain and Abel Lim Wee Yuan also delivered a bronze medal in the men's duilian event with their tally of 9.283 points.

Thailand took the gold with 9.35 points while Cambodia claimed the runner-up spot with 9.316 points.

National wushu coach Li Hui was ecstatic with the results.

"I'm loss for words and can't explain how I feel. We're very happy today and very proud of them," said national wushu coach Li Hui after the victory.

"I always tell them that 'how much you give, is how much you receive'.

"This is proof that these results came from their hard work and training," he added.

The national wushu coach also thanked His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, for the endless support by being present for the wushu events from start to finish.
