BRUNEI had a good outing at the Sarawak Premier International Silat Championship after returning home with two silver and one bronze medals recently.
Nur Wasiqah Aziemah Rosihan bagged the first medal as she took the runners-up spot in the women’s tunggal event at the February 27th – March 5th competition.
She began her campaign by edging Singapore’s Siti Nazurah Mohd Yussoff 9.910 – 9.885.
She picked up her second victory after toppling Sarawak's Zureen Zulyka Zaidel 9.915 – 8.885 to move into the final.
Wasiqah settled for the silver medal by a 0.005 margin after losing 9.920 – 9.925 against Malaysia’s Nur Syafiqah Hamzah.
Muna Munirah Hj Awg Abd Muner captured the other silver medal in the women’s 75-80kg division after falling 42-12 to Sarawak’s Sharifah Nurhalimatun Sa’idah Wan Mohamad.
The other podium finish was courtesy of Mohammad Izzammuddin Muhd Taha was after he claimed bronze in the men’s 45-50kg category.
He fell 22-9 to Arieffudin Ridzuan in the semi-finals.
The seven-day championship featured some 800 athletes and officials in Kuching, Sarawak.
Besides hosts Malaysia and Brunei, participants also came from Singapore, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
