DPMM FC are excited to return to the Singapore Premier League after being away for three years.
It will be no easy task as they open their 2023 campaign against the Lion City Sailors at the Bishan Stadium on Friday.
DPMM FC coach Adrian Pennock is unfazed by the challenge and is looking forward to it.
"They already played one game and won against Tanjong Pagar. They look good and strong," said Pennock in an interview with BruSports News on Tuesday.
"They have spent millions of pounds on players and their training ground.
"Nobody expects us to do anything and probably lose 6 or 7-0. But that's not what we are expecting and will give it the best we can," added the Englishman.
DPMM FC prepared themselves during pre-season with two games in Thailand against BG Pathum United and Chomburi FC.
"It was a very good pre-season as the boys gave me everything and went all out," said Pennock.
"We had two hard games against very strong teams, who are halfway through their season.
"We looked rusty in the first game but were much better in the second," added the 51-year-old.
When asked on the target for the season, Pennock replied: "It will be a tough season but we hope to surprise a few people.
"The Singapore teams are stronger than they were before and it will be tough to go away every week as we will be playing our home games in Singapore at least till up till May.
"It is just not the same as we are stronger playing in front of our fans since they turn out in big numbers in Brunei," he added.
"But nonetheless we will just have to get on with it," he concluded.
