JCWE claimed top honours in the men's Open category of the 3x3 Brave As A Tiger Championship after defeating Beastmode 21-10 in the final on Sunday.

It was sweet revenge for JWCE as they had lost to the same opponents 21-9 in the group stage on Friday.

JCWE brought their A game right from the start and raced to a 7-2 lead just two minutes into the game at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.

They played their pick and roll to perfection to get easy looks and covered the three-point line to prevent the likes of Jeremy Chu and William Ching from scoring.

It was 13-5 two minutes later after Md Zainul Ashyraf Hj Hussin completed a three-point play.

JCWE opened up a double digit lead at 17-7 on the 4:30 mark after Ben Sim saved a ball from going out of bounds resulting in Jake Chong finishing an open layup.

Sim then sealed the victory with a couple of minutes left with a corner trey.

Sim, who is coming off winning the GHK Tutong Cup 2022 just over a week ago, felt it was their energy that got them the title.

"I think it is just our energy coming into it (the final). We had some games under our legs and they were our first game on Friday. Today was just different energy and obviously having Mizi on the team," said Sim in an interview with BruSports News after the win.

"We started really strong and never looked back. It was a bit tough as I'm still a little beat up form the Tutong tournament and hoping the other guys will carry but once we got here then I just had to turn on finals mode," he added.

TK Tea House claimed third spot after beating Bess Thai Food 19-16.

Wardah lifts BNS to victory

WARDAH Hj Mer'aj was the heroine as she knocked down the game-winning three to lift BNS to a 10-8 overtime win over Propel in the final of the women's Open category.

BNS looked in control of the game as they led 8-1 with four minutes left to play.

However, Propel regrouped and produced a fierce fightback to get to within a point late in regulation.

Vanessa Pang had a chance to secure the victory but missed a freethrow with 12.6 seconds to go.

Marsya Rashidi was then fouled on a drive and she too missed from the charity stripe.

Chloe Chen secured the rebound and sent the game to overtime with a baseline shot.

The extra period didn't last long as it only took 19 seconds for Wardah, who was playing with a right ankle sprain, to score from behind the arc.

Meanwhile, the Masters took the bronze after edging IIEE-Brunei Team 11-9 in overtime.

Back-to-back titles for Hana Boyz

Hana Boyz won the U18 Boys category after dispatching Master G 21-18 in the final.

They had also won the 3x3 BBA Youth Kickstart competition in July.

In a tightly contested affair which saw both side trade baskets, it was a freethrow that settled the tie late on.

With Master G in the penalty, Gabriel Rubillar was sent to the line with 1:45 left on the clock.

He missed the first but connected on the second to seal the triumph.

Over in the third-place playoff, a stepback three-pointer by Jaron On lifted Twin Towers to a 13-11 overtie win over Hankook.
