Pegasus and GKL to battle in GHK Tutong Cup final

PEGASUS advanced to the final of the GHK Tutong Cup 2022 after edging Propel 65-64 in the semi-finals last night.

They will face GKL after they defeated JHY Enteprise 88-53 in the other last-four match at the Tutong Chung Hwa school.

Propel had led most of the game and were ahead by as many as six points in the final stanza.

It was a Lim Liang Wei three-point play that put Pegasus in front 55-54 with 4:22 on the clock.

It remained a one possession game most of the way and Propel were in the better position down the stretch.

Liang Wei, who finished the game with a high of 28 points, fouled out on the 2:48 mark.

Tan Kun Hor split the ensuing freethrows but Tan Kah Boon scored off the offensive rebound.

Benjamin Lim then connected on two freethrows to make it 63-60 in favour of Propel with two minutes to play.

Pegasus got a basket at the other end and Ben was fouled by on a three-point attempt. However, he could only knock down the first.

Jeremy Chu hit a trey as the shot clock sounded at the other end to put Pegasus back in front 65-64 with 51 seconds left.

Kenny Lim was sent to the line the next possession and he missed both his charities.

Pegasus came up empty the next play and Ching Wei Ming had a chance to tie the game.

But he missed on his floater as Pegasus secured the rebound and the win.

Wee Koon Seng was the other in double figures for Pegasus with 12 points.

On the other hand, Benjamin topscored for Propel with 22 points while Kun Hor contributed 17.

Kah Boon was the other in double digit scoring with 10 in the defeat.

The final is scheduled for 8.30pm on Friday right after the third place playoff at 7pm.
