TK hold off Pegasus for quarters berth

TK TEA House pulled away late in the fourth quarter to defeat Pegasus 93-77 in Group B to confirm their quarter-finals berth in the YOU.C1000 Cup on Sunday night.

TK had led by as many as 15 points in the opening period but Pegasus always found a way to claw their way back.

The latter finally got to within a single possession after a basket by Jonathan Lim to end the third period at 66-63.

The game was finally tied at the start of the final quarter after a Gideon Fong three-pointer just give seconds in.

TK came out empty handed at the other end and Fong then gave Pegasus their first lead of the game after he split his freethrows.

It was see-saw battle as both side traded baskets for the next four minutes before TK used a 7-0 run to lead 78-72.

They suffered a scare as Earl Medina suffered a cramp but would check back in later in the game.

The momentum was clearly with TK as they outscored Pegasus 10-3 the next two minutes.

Pegasus tried to regroup with a timeout but looked depleted as TK closed out strongly to keep their perfect record intact.

Medina produced game-high of 34 points to pace TK while Gary Antonio added 18.

Aristeo Fullado and John Pascua also got in double figures with 11 and 10 respectively in the victory.

On the other side, Pegasus had distributed scoring with Tan Kun Hor leading the way with 16 points.

The duo of Lim and Jeremy Chu each notched 15 while Ting Heng Lee was the other in double digits with 11 to a losing cause.
