FUZHOU Shiyyi Association clamped down on defence to defeat Propel 88-61 in Group B of the YOU.C1000 Cup on Saturday night.
Ahmad Termizi Hj Nordeen scored a game-high of 27 points to pace Fuzhou while Lim Liang Wei added 24.
Esmond Tan was the other in double figures with 18 to his name in the victory at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
On the other side, Kuo Ming Sheng topscored for Propel with 17 points while Phang Seng Fu contributed 14.
Shim Jan Ting was the other in double digit scoring with 10 points in a losing effort.
The game was neck and neck in the opening period and it was in the second frame that Fuzhou created a little gap.
Mizi started heating up at the offensive end as he scored the first 10 points for his side and eventually finished the quarter with 13 points.
He got it going both from behind the arc as well as taking it to the rack to allow Fuzhou to open up a 39-29 lead at halftime.
Propel stayed in the game through Kuo until Fuzhou switched to man-to-man defence midway through the third stanza.
They limited their opponents to only a single field goal for the rest of the period and extended their lead to 64-47 going into the final quarter.
Propel simply had no answer as Fuzhou turned defence into transition points to lead by as many as 27 points enroute to victory.
The second game saw Yi's Nation defeat D'Barkad'Z 98-67 in Group A.
The tournament continues on Sunday with Easyway taking on Unity in Group A at 7pm.
A Group B matchup between Pegasus and TK Tea House follow right after at 8.30pm.
