IT WAS mission accomplished for Nina Juna as she secured a 17th place finish at Far East Throwdown - the semi-finals of the 2022 CrossFit Games in Busan, South Korea.
She tallied a total of 292 points over six events at the June 3-5 event, which featured a total of 23 athletes in the women’s category.
Nina had finished in 22nd in the previous edition and targeted a better placing this time around.
It was her first non-virtual competition in over two years and got off to a slow start. She then shrugged it off and is proud to complete the course.
“I doubted myself after finishing second last for the first event but gathered myself and focused to jump a few ranks for the second event,” said Nina in a recent interview with BruSports News.
“I tried my best, killed all the workouts and it felt like a rollercoaster. Some I loved the movements while some killed me.
“Overall, I had so much fun for the whole three days despite of all the pain during the workouts and the soreness after,” she added.
“I really missed those feelings and it was just good to be back on the competition floor,” continued Nina.
When asked on what the best takeaway was from the tournament, Nina replied: “It was good to share the battle floor with all the strong athletes from all over Asia.
“The most important thing is that I could see how far I have improved and there’s a lot more to learn and practice to become better,”she added.
The 30-year-old also thanked her friends and family for the outpouring support.
“I would like to thank everyone for their never ending support during my journey, from zero to where I stand now,” said the YOU.C1000 ambassador.
“I’m just proud to bring our Brunei flag to be shown on the leaderboard because to be able to qualify to the top-30 in Asia to make into the semi-finals hasn’t been easy,” she concluded.
