NATIONAL sprinter Md Noor Firdaus Ar-Rasyid HJ Md Idris is all set to take to the tracks of the Olympic Stadium on Tuesday morning.
Firdaus is soaking in the atmosphere being at the Japanese capital and is ready for the big race, where he will compete in Heat 5 of the men's 200m event.
"I still can't believe that I'm at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It's a dream come true," said Firdaus in an interview with BruSports News on Monday.
"I want to enjoy every moment here in the Olympic Village. I am ready (for the race), but its going to be tough and hard. It's the Olympics after all," he added.
Having departed the Sultanate last Monday, the 24-year-old also managed to put in a few training sessions.
It has been four years since he set the national record with a time of 21.39 seconds at the 2017 SEA Games in Malaysia.
This time he is just looking forward to the best outcome.
"Training was good, the atmosphere, the track and the stadium is amazing," said Firdaus.
"InsyaAllah, with all those hard work, effort, initiative, doa and tawakkal, I'm just hoping for the best with a good result at the biggest games of all," he concluded.
His event is scheduled to begin around 10.35am Brunei time.
