STRATUS Development survived a late comeback by GHK for a 45-41 victory in the women's category of the YOU.C1000 Cup on Saturday night.
Inah Caballero topscored for Stratus with 14 points while Bernadeth Aguana chipped in eight in their first in in two games.
On the other hand, Patricia Chan led GHK with 14 points while Tung Wai Khei added eight.
After a closely contest opening half, Stratus stuck their noses in front 22-19 at the break at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
They pulled away at the start of the second half with 10 unanswered points after four minutes.
GHK followed that up with back-to-back baskets but both teams eventually struggled to get anything going at the offensive end in the final five minutes of the third - missing a handful of chances.
Stratus did connect on three freethrows during that time to see them up 37-25 going into the final frame.
Caballero scored two baskets a minute into the fourth period for their largest lead at 14 points.
GHK started their comeback midway through after a three-pointer by Kitty Luk to make it 43-32.
Stratus scored at the other end courtesy of Farah Humaira and it proved to be their last basket of the game.
GHK bagged the last nine points of the match which began with a basket by Chan.
GHK utilised full court pressure down the stretch and a three-pointer by Amanda Wong made it a two-possession game with 23 seconds left.
However, it ended being a mere consolation as they lose their second in as many games.
