Systematic Living hang on to beat Le Doux

SYSTEMATIC Living hung on to defeat Le Doux Patisserie 62-52 in the first game of the women's category of the YOU.C1000 Cup on Monday night.

Ho Shing Shing powered Systematic Living at the offensive end with a game-high of 27 points in the matchup at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.

Vanessa Pang contributed 15 points while Masyitah Nurulalam was the other in double figures with 10.

On the other hand, Lim Guik Ting topscored for Le Doux with 15 points while the pair of Nong Lan Jie and Chris Tan added nine points each.

Systematic Living came out firing on all cylinders for 10 straight points in the opening two minutes.

Le Doux settled down midway through and got it done from the outside to trim the deficit to within 21-19 at the end of the first period.

It remained a closely contested affair and Systematic Living made it a double digit lead midway through after Ho converted five straight points to make it 32-22.

Le Doux missed on a handful of chances but still trimmed the lead to 34-28 at halftime.

They went in front for the first time late in the third period after a trey by Tan to make it 43-41.

However, Systematic Living regained the lead shortly and a three-pointer by Ho ensured that they were ahead 48-46 going into the decisive frame.

Le Doux were limited to only two field goals in the final 10 minutes as they were outscored 15-7.

Ho took over as she scored the first eight points for Systematic Living to finish with 11 in the period to secure the win.

A total of five women's teams - with Stratus Development, GHK Motors and Shooting Stars being the others - vying for top honours.
