EASYWAY stormed to a 102-67 victory over TK Tea House in their Group B opener of the YOU.C1000 Cup last night.
American Decorey Jones was the topscorer of the encounter with 24 points for Easyway through three quarters at the BBA Court in Batu Bersurat.
Andy Sim had a good outing with 20 points, 11 of them coming in the third period, while Jake Chong added 19.
Ben Sim was the other in double figures for Easyway with 15 points in the triumph.
On the other side, John Medina led TK with 15 points while Darren Chai poured in 12 off the bench in the defeat.
Easyway got right to work from tip off and eventually opened up a 18-2 lead after a three-point play by Jones midway through.
TK were made to work and couldn’t get anything going at the offensive end.
They used a 7-0 run to close to within 10 points but a basket by Devon Lim put Easyway in front 29-17 heading into the second frame.
Easyway could have built a much bigger advantage but were not getting things done from the line despite being in the bonus early.
They were not helped by their careless turnovers but still saw themselves up 52-37 at halftime.
It was after the break that Easyway opened the flood gates. TK simply had no answer as their opponents picked their pockets for fastbreak points.
Jones hit a jumper, which was his last action of the game, at the end of the third to put his side up 80-45 enroute to a comfortable win.
The curtain raiser saw Fateh Sdn Bhd run away with a 112-79 victory over Concepts Xtrike-Me in Group A.
The competition continues today with CBA taking on Pegasus in Group C at 7pm.
The second game pits Setia Warriors against Yi’s Nation in Group D at 8.30pm.
