Yi’s Nation V2 stay unbeaten with win over OSP

YI'S NATION V2 made it five wins out of five in the National Basketball League after fending off a previously unbeaten Ong Sum Ping (OSP) 92-75 last night.

They came out firing on all cylinders early on to open up a 17-point halftime lead before OSP came back to tie things up in the third period.

Yi's Nation V2 regrouped in the final quarter and closed out the game to keep their 100% record intact.

Jonathan Lim had the hot hands early on for Yi's Nation V2 with 10 points in the opening frame to finish with a game-high of 27 points.

The duo of Brendan Lim and Darren Yap contributed 17 points apiece while Ahmad Termizi Hj Noordeen was the other in double figures with 14 points to his name.

On the other side, Lim Jin Yuan topscored for OSP with 18 points - 11 of them coming in the third quarter - while Esmond Tan added 14.

Kenny Lim chipped in 13 points while Kevin Tay scored 12 in a losing effort at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.

A spirited and youthful Yi's Nation V2 had everything going for them in the opening half as they opened up a 50-33 lead at the break.

Things took a turn at the start of the second half as OSP used a 14-0 in the span of four minutes to cut the deficit.

The game was tied midway through the stanza after Tan split his freethrows to bring the scores to 52-52.

Yi's Nation V2 had trouble keeping the ball and OSP went in front for the first time after a three-point play by Jin Yuan.

However, Yi's Nation V2 kept their composure and stuck their noses back in front after a trey by Yap put them up 68-63 heading into the decisive quarter.

OSP looked out of steam and simply couldn't get anything to fall in the decisive frame.

Yi's Nation V2 placed their focus at the defensive end and eventually built on their lead enroute to victory.

Bandar Rockets finally lift off

Bandar Rockets barged into the win column after a Nadzif Muhd Azmin winner saw them edge BBA 85-84 in the earlier game.

It was a see-saw battle late on and a three-point play by Tan Ye Wei put the Rockets up 84-83 with 16 seconds to play.

BBA regained the lead courtesy of Simon Chong sinking a pair of freethrows at the other end before Nadzif scored from close range to lift the Rockets to victory.
