AHMED Faez ‘Eazy’ Anuar will have to wait a little longer before his third fight in the ONE Warrior Series.
Brunei’s top MMA athlete was scheduled to fight in the 11th edition of OWS in Singapore on April 23 but the event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 situation.
He was also forced to cut short his training camp at Bali MMA and is set to return to the Sultanate.
“I've been here for four weeks now. The plan was to stay until April 19th which is the beginning of fight week,” said Eazy in an interview with BruSports News today.
“But now that the event has been cancelled, I'm heading home as soon as possible to be with my family.
“Training here is tough as always. Preparation runs deep here as far as getting mentally ready , skill wise and physically,” added the Khalifa MMA head coach.
Eazy, who holds a 2-0-0 OWS record, knows exactly what needs to be done for now and for him to stay ready.
“I want to spend time with family and friends really. I miss them so dearly as it's never easy being away in camps,” said the 33-year-old.
“But first I have to do the prudent thing of self quarantine to monitor myself. Kind of sad in a way as you are home but not quite since can't see anyone yet especially my wife and son.
“After that, it's back to training with the team at Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts to stay healthy and ready,” he added.
“When the call comes then full throttle once again to Bali for camp. It also depends when the next event may be, considering Ramadhan and Eid are around the corner,” continued the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt holder.
Eazy also wished for the best for everyone during this difficult time.
“I would like to wish everyone to stay safe, healthy and active. Also to remain cautious and don't panic,” said Eazy.
“We can all battle this pandemic by doing the right things together. Insya Allah it will all blow over soon and the grass will be greener on the other side,” he concluded.
Eazy won in his OWS debut after locking in a seated armbar against India’s Pardeep Kumar in April 25 last year.
He then followed that up with victory over Ryuichi Yamashita after locking in a triangle choke hold in October.
