PEGASUS fell to back-to-back defeats in the opening weekend of the Thailand Basketball Super League (TBSL) after falling 107-79 against Thailand’s Dunkin Raptors tonight.
The Brunei side stuck around in the first half before the Raptors pulled away in the third period at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.
Big man Reginald Johnson had a monster game for the Raptors with 38 points and 28 rebounds while Avery Scharer also had a double-double with 26 points and 12 assists.
Thacharin Narbonne and Apisittinan Dasom were the other two in double figures for the Raptors with 19 and 13 respectively in the victory.
On the other hand, Patrick Cabahug topscored for Pegasus with 25 points while Roider Cabrera notched 19 points - going six for 17 from three-point territory.
Kel Hung contributed 16 points and hauled down 13 rebounds in the defeat.
It was always going to be difficult to contain the 6’10 Johnson after Pegasus centre Pavle Cevtinovic picked up a left ankle injury three minutes into the game.
Pegasus stayed within reach and trailed 48-41 at halftime. However, they were outscored 32-21 in the third stanza resulting in the Raptors running away for their second straight win.
Pegasus as a team shot 28 per cent from the field making 24 out of 83 attempts. They were also outrebounded 63-48.
The biggest difference is that the Raptors dominated the paint with 82 points while Pegasus only managed 18.
Pegasus opened their professional debut with a 76-58 loss to the Makabayan Warriors yesterday.
They will be back in action next Saturday where they will face Luang Prabang of Laos.
