TABUAN MUDA (national under-22 football) coach Aminuddin Jumat is looking to take it one game at a time at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines.
Brunei will kick off their difficult Group B campaign against Vietnam on Monday before facing defending champions Thailand three days later.
The Sultanate will then take on Laos on December 1 before a meeting against Indonesia two days later.
They will then complete the group stage against Singapore on December 5.
“We have set our targets and what we got to do now is take it game by game,” said Aminuddin in an interview with BruSports News yesterday before departure at the Brunei International Airport in Berakas.
“We are focused on the first game and I believe the boys can move it up to the next level,” he added.
Tabuan Muda faced Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia most recently during the AFC Under-23 Championship qualifiers in March where they lost all their games.
The Sultanate had lost 6-0 to hosts Vietnam in the opener before falling 8-0 to Thailand in the second match.
They then kept it close to only lose 2-1 to Indonesia to close out their outing.
“Obviously we face the three teams Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia whom we have played against in the AFC U-23 qualifiers in Hanoi in March,” said the Temburong native.
“We collected all the footage and then we did some analysis. I hope with that we can improve our weaknesses and strengths,” added the 33-year-old, who previously coached Lun Bawang in the DST League.
This will be the first time that Aminuddin is the head coach for Brunei at any level after gaining plenty of experience as the assistant to former national coach Robbie Servais for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 first round qualifiers in June.
He was also the assistant to the national under-16 team.
