BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex (YSHHB) will be hosting an esports competition at the ground floor of their premises in the capital over the span of three selected weekends starting this Friday.
Co-organised by the Triple A-Bn, The 6 OG and The H Force and supported by the Esports Association of Brunei (ESB), the competition will begin with Player Unknown's Battleground (PUBG).
The prize presentation will be held on Sunday and the winners will walk away with a cash prize of $500 and shirts.
Second place will take home $300 and the third-placed team will get $200.
Mobile Legends will be contested from Dec 6-8 while Call of Duty (COD) from January 10-12, 2020.
The prize pool for Mobile Legends is the same as PUBG while there is an increase for COD.
The champions will bag $800 and shirts while runners-up will take $500. The third-placed team will get $300.
Registration is still open for the latter two games and those interested can still register by contacting the e-sports coordinator at 8914525.
The event is aimed at building friendship and to help foster an online community amongst the youth.
ESB, which was established in April this year, envisioned Brunei to be internationally recognised and could see esports bringing a positive impact to the society especially to the younger generations.
They are proactively raising the competitiveness of its local players to be able to compete with their international counterparts and to nurture the e-sports gaming scene.
