YOU.C1000 Fuzhou Cup MVP Jayson Gisalan credited his teammates for a good team effort in getting TK Tea House over the line against Hui Huang Enterprise in the final last night.

TK won the title after the shooting guard put up a game-high of 27 points - 19 of them coming in the second half - to lead his side to victory at the Fuzhou Shiyyi Association building in Berakas.

“We won because we pushed together as a team and helped each other,” said Gisalan in an interview with BruSports News after the triumph.

“Patience is a virtue and that’s how we won,” he added.

When asked on his personal performance, he replied: “I think it was a little bit of a late bloomer. But overall as a tournament I think I did good as I just gave my best.”

TK coach Robert Rubillar said that it was the players' mentality that got them the win.

“The players wanted to win. Every second the players just wanted to win. It was good for them both on offence and defence,” said Rubillar.

“Every ball possession we had to earn it and be good about it," he added.

When asked on who was his MVP, Rubillar replied: “Everybody. But (Vincent) Superio changed the tempo as when he entered suddenly he controlled the game.

“(Apollo) Bibat, Gisalan especially Megallon also played very well eventhough he was under pressure,” he added.

On the other hand, Hui Huang coach Tan Chu Eu felt that missed freethrows hurt them.

“We missed a lot of freethrows. Maybe around 15 of them. We also didn’t take our chances like when we were three on one, we turned the ball over,” said Tan.

“Our offence in both the second and third quarters also weren’t moving,” he added.

Tan also highlighted that they didn’t capitalise on the foul situation of their opponents.

TK centre Darrel Dela Cruz had picked up his fourth foul with 19 seconds left in the third quarter but managed to stay in the game till the final buzzer.

“One key thing is when Dela Cruz picked up his fourth foul. We should have drawn the fifth from him,” said Tan.

“If he was out of the game then it could have been a different story,” concluded Tan.
