Goh hits game-winning freethrow to propel FZ-Juramas past Easyway

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

ALVIN Goh hit the game-winning freethrow to give FZ-Juramas an 86-85 victory over Easyway in the YOU.C1000 Cup Phase 2 last night.

With the game tied at 85 apiece with five seconds left on the clock, Goh tipped the ball from an Easyway inbounds pass before getting fouled at the other end as time expired to send him to the line.

He then split his charities to give his side their second win of the competition at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.

“I was fortunate to get the call and if it wasn’t for that we would have gone to OT,” said Goh in an interview with BruSports News after the win.

“But either way win or lose we will still meet them in the semis,” he added.

The FZ-Juramas guard also felt that they are gelling playing alongside their imports with more games.

“I think that we are getting better playing with the imports as the game goes along,” said Goh.

We just don’t know each other’s players yet plus we don’t have a coach,” added the 30-year-old.

Goh eventually finished the game with 14 points while Filipino import Macky Acosta produced 23 points to lead the way.

Mike Parala was also in double figures while Francis Barcellano notched 11 points – all coming in the first half – in the triumph.

On the other hand, Easyway had their import pairing of Charles Pepito and Harold James did the heavy lifting.

The former poured in 23 points while James contributed 22. Ahmad Termizi Hj Noordeen scored 12 points – all from behind the arc – in their second successive defeat.

Meanwhile, YTE completed a sweep of the round-robin stage with a 99-88 victory over Setia Builders in the earlier game.

The competition continues today with the last two games before the semi-finals on Friday.

Setia Builders will be taking on Easyway 7.15pm in the first game while the second match pits Systematic Living against FZ-Juramas at 9pm.
