BRUNEI bagged another silver medal on the final day of the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships today.
Chiam Zi Qi won the silver medal in the girl’s jianshu children event after amassing 9.11 points at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Singapore’s Heidi Kong Kai En finished at the top of the podium with her score of 9.15 points in the field of six participants.
Jessie Djalimin of Indonesia claimed the bronze medal after tallying 9.05 points.
The result means that Brunei end the competition with four gold, two silver and one bronze medals - their best ever performance in the tournament.
The national wushu team had won two gold medals on the opening day on Monday.
The duo of Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain and Mohammad Safiee Shayferan claimed the gold in the boy’s duel youth event while Nur Batrisyia Ripi and Ling Dexuan won the girl’s duel event.
The third gold was courtesy of Hosea Wong Zheng Yu in the boy’s taijiquan youth event.
Basma Lachkar won the fourth gold from the girl’s taijiquan youth event yesterday following her silver medal from the girl’s taijijian youth event on Tuesday.
Lim Yee Sean delivered the bronze medal from the girl’s 42 forms taijiquan junior event on Wednesday.
China were the overall champions with their haul of 20 gold, two silver and one bronze medals.
Macau won seven gold, nine silver and four bronze medals. Iran and Vietnam also won seven gold medals each.
The former added five silver and 11 bronze while the latter had four silver and five bronze medals.
