Basma delivers Brunei’s 4th gold at 10th Asian Jr Wushu C’Ships

BRUNEI won their fourth gold at the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships after Basma Lachkar finished joint top in the girl’s taijiquan youth event today.

She shared the gold with Japan’s Hibiki Isono after both recorded 9.48 points to beat out six other competitors at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

This is Basma’s second podium finish in the tournament after she won silver in the girl’s taijijian youth event on Tuesday.

Lu Shao Yun of Chinese-Taipei won the bronze just 0.01 points back.

Brunei’s tally is now at four gold, one silver and one bronze medals after four days of competition.

The national wushu team had won two gold medals on the opening day on Monday.

The duo of Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain and Mohammad Safiee Shayferan bagged the gold in the boy’s duel youth event while Nur Batrisyia Ripi and Ling Dexuan won the girl’s duel event.

The third gold was courtesy of Hosea Wong Zheng Yu in the boy’s taijiquan youth event.

Lim Yee Sean delivered the bronze medal from the girl’s 42 forms taijiquan junior event yesterday.

The Sultanate will still have a few opportunities to add to their haul tomorrow before the closing ceremony at night.

Majdurano Joel will contest in the boy’s nangun youth event while Nur Batrisyia will participate in the girl’s nangun youth.

Chiam Zi Qi will end Brunei’s campaign in the girl’s jianshu children event.
