Brunei add 1 gold and 1 silver on second day of 10th Asian Jr Wushu C’Ships

THE national wushu team added one gold and one silver medals to their haul at the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championships today.

The result brings their tally to a total of three gold and one silver over two days at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

The gold medal was won by Hosea Wong Zheng Yu after he produced 9.52 points to beat eight other competitors to triumph in the boy’s taijiquan youth event.

Singapore’s Tay Yu Xuan claimed the runner-up spot 0.06 points behind while Chen Hsing Shan completed the podium with his score of 9.43 points.

Meanwhile, Basma Lachkar delivered the silver medal from the girl’s taijijian youth event with her score of 9.54 points in the field of nine contestants.

China’s Chi Zailin won the gold after her performance raked in 9.60 points while Lu Shao Yun of Chinese-Taipei bagged third position on 9.49 points.

Brunei’s wushu athletes will be in action again tomorrow.

In the morning session starting at 8.30am, Mohammad Safiee Shayferan Roslan will compete in the boy’s gunshu youth event while Aaron Phung Jinyi in the boy’s nangun junior event.

The duo of Li Ziyan and Lim Yee Sean will contest in the girl’s 42 forms taijiquan junior event.

As for the afternoon session from 2.30pm onwards, Walid Lachkar will participate in the boy’s changquan junior event while Majdurano Joel Majallah Sain in the boy’s nandao youth event.

Nur Batrisyia Ripin will see action in the girl’s nandao youth while Abel Lim Wee Yuen in the boy’s gunshu children event.
