HAKEME Said became the second youngest player to score in the Singapore Premier League after netting the opener in DPMM FC’s 3-0 victory over Geylang International FC last night.
The debutant, aged 16 years and 175 days, is just one day older than Hariss Harun when he found the back of the net against SAFFC (now known as Warriors FC) back in 2007.
Hakeme had intercepted a backpass before slotting the ball past Zainol Gulam in between the Geylang sticks for the lead three minutes into the second half.
He then proceeded to celebrate his goal with a backflip - which his older brother Adi Said also broke out after scoring the third goal - to the delight of the crowd at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
DPMM FC coach Adrian Pennock was pleased with the performance of his forward.
“He has done absolutely well for a 16 year old boy. He brought a lot of enthusiasm and has no fear,” said Pennock after the game.
“He has been very good in training and very sharp. For me, it doesn’t matter how old you are - 16 or 45 - as long as you are good enough you play.
“He deserved a chance and he took it. But overall as a team we played very well tonight,” concluded the former Stoke City coach.
