BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
THE duo of local combat sports athletes Mohd Adib Pehin Hj Sulaiman and Mohd Norhidayat Abdul will continue their pursuit for ONE Championship contracts when they step into the ring at the One Warrior Series in Singapore next Tuesday.
The pair are under the supervision of the Brunei MMA team head coach Ahmed Faez 'Eazy' Anuar, who is also a contender at the One Warrior Series.
However, Eazy will not be contesting in Singapore after his opponent declined the offer.
Competing under the banner of Wolfpack Training Ground, 28-year-old Adib will be fighting a tough competitor from the Philippines, Ismael Bandiwan of Tribal Torigi.
Bandiwan holds a MMA record of five wins and two losses (2-2 in the ONE Warrior Series), while Adib holds a professional record of 2-1 (5-2 overall).
Adib, who is also know as Deep, is coming off a victory over Rungrot Posi, also from Thailand, in his previous fight in February.
On the other hand, Mohd Norhidayat, who is the Sultanate’s most active MMA athlete with a 6-1 win-loss record overall, will be taking on Indonesia's top prospect Toreq Rayis of Bali MMA, who used to fight in the country’s top MMA promotion One Pride MMA.
This is only the second fight for Dayat under ONE Warrior Series after his debut victory over Sonya Kongkatonk of Thailand in April.
