THE Group A All-Stars edged the Group B All-Stars 112-106 in an entertaining YOU.C1000 Cup All-Star Game last night.
Freddie Goldstein was named the MVP and also bagged the topscorer award with a game-high of 38 points to lead the Group A All-Stars.
Rashad Ali poured in 23 points while the duo of Udun Osakue and Terrell Carter II added 19 and 16 points respectively in the victory at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.
On the other side, Josh White topscored for the Group B All-Stars with 34 points while Mike Fey added 26 to his name.
Marcus Quirk contributed 18 points while Don Mordeno was the other in double figures with 12 to a losing cause.
The Group A All-Stars had overturned a 10-point deficit midway through the third quarter to carry a 77-74 lead into the final period.
They scored the first six points but the Group B All-Stars managed to tie things up at 96-96 with over three minutes to play.
A see-saw battle ensued and the tides turned in favour of the Group A All-Stars with 1:10 left on the clock.
Mordeno was whistled for an unsportsmanlike foul on Goldstein on the inbounds with the scores tied at 103-103.
Goldstein hit both his attempts from the charity stripe and Carter would complete a three-point play off the regained possession to make it 108-103 for the Group A All-Stars.
At the other end, the Group B All-Stars missed a three-pointer to cut the deficit and Osakue would score a jumper with 37 seconds left to seal the win for Group A All-Stars.
