"I AIN’T done yet," said Brunei's first pro MMA fighter Muhammad Adib Pehin Hj Sulaiman following his first defeat at the One Warrior Series in Singapore last week.
The 27year-old was sent to the canvas after a lunging knee from Saharat Kongsawat of Wild Card Gym in the 4:32 minute mark of round 2 at the Big Box Event Hall in Jurong East.
Muhammad Adib, who is better known as Deep, dominated the first round with his excellent ground control, but there was nothing he could do to prevent the strike from the Thai, who has more than 400 Muay Thai fights under his belt.
"Props to my opponent for being the better fighter that night, no excuses on my loss," said Deep in an interview with BruSports News recently.
"The fight was tough against a very experienced Muay Thai athlete, who's been competing for several years with an extensive record of fights.
"Undoubtedly he felt very much at home in the ring ropes, therefore he had the advantage in that environment," he added.
Despite the setback, the Wolfpack head instructor is looking forward to get back to training as he plans to compete and fight again in the near future.
"Defeat is nothing foreign to me… it's part of life. But it's a hard pill to swallow especially in this line of work," said Deep, who holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
"There are only lessons to be learned and back to crafting and honing the skills.
"As for now I am recuperating and looking forward to get back into training for a next fight,” added the Tutong district native.
Deep now holds a professional record of one win and one loss after winning against Nyan Lin from Myanmar via ground and pound in his impressive professional MMA debut in March.
"Thank you everyone for the kind messages and support. Special shout out to my coach, who's always been there since day one, Eazy Anuar, and my training partners Mohd Nurhidayat Abdul, Koo Jin Fuh and the team over at Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts,"
"Of course my team from Wolfpack and not to forget guys from Project Mayhem, who lent me a hand during my training camp, family and friends," he concluded.
