Osakue lifts YTE over Teo & Sons

YTE got their YOU.C1000 Cup campaign off on the right foot with a 120-98 win over Teo & Sons in Group A last night.

With Teo & Sons leading 47-43 at halftime, YTE used a strong third quarter to outscore their opponents 38-19 to swing the tides at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.

Reigning MVP Udun Osakue (pic R) was the biggest factor as he found his range after the interval for 19 third quarter points, including four treys, enroute to a game-high of 40 points.

Elvin Requintin also had a good outing with 27 points while Terrell Carter II was the other in double figures with 20 points to his name in the triumph.

On the other hand, Freddie Goldstein topscored for Teo & Sons with 34 points.

Rashad Ali notched 22 points while the Filipino duo of Jeff Paraiso and Roldan Binas contributed 14 points each in a losing effort.

It was an even contest to start and it was Requintin with the hot hands as he put up 13 points on the board including three consecutive three-pointers at one stretch.

Goldstein got it done at the other end for Teo & Sons to stay within 25-22 going into the second quarter.

Teo & Sons picked up at the defensive end to force several turnovers off their opponents and eventually grabbed their first lead at 35-33 midway through the period after a jumper by Paraiso.

Binas had it going offensively for 10 points in the frame before Osakue took over in the third quarter, which included a stretch with 13 straight points, to guide YTE to a comfortable victory.

The other game last night saw Tutong Basketball beat Cleanwash Laundry 85-75.

The competition continues tonight with Easyway taking on Ceramic Pro Brunei in Group B at 7.15pm

The second match pits Walltique against Fuzhou Shiyyi Association at 8.45pm.
