LOCAL pro MMA star Muhammad Adib Pehin Hj Sulaiman is set for his second fight at the ONE Warrior Series in Singapore on Thursday.

Having defeated Nyan Lin from Myanmar via ground and pound in his impressive professional MMA debut in March, the only Bruneian in the competition stands a better chance to earn a contract with ONE Championship worth more than US$100,000 should he win this fight.

ONE Warrior Series, a programme under ONE Championship, the largest global sports media property in Asia have yet to publicly announce Muhammad Adib’s opponent for Thursday, but the fight will be held at the Big Box Event Hall in Jurong East and will be broadcasted live on the ONE Championship FB page.

The 27-year-old told BruSports News that he is set for one of the most important battles in his life.

"Preparations have gone well for this fight, I have had cross trainings with Khalifa MMA, Project Mayhem and of course at my own gym Wolfpack," said Muhammad Adib, who is better known as Deep.

"This time around we have worked on certain game plans for the fight suited for my opponent, and since I am fighting professionally now as my career, training has been solid and consistent," he added.

The Tutong district native is determined to put Brunei's name among the elites in the region.

"It has really been my goal to show the world what we Bruneians are capable of.

"I am really thankful for this opportunity to showcase my talent and certainly grateful to represent Brunei on the world stage," he continued.

ONE Warrior Series CEO, Rich Franklin, a former UFC middleweight champion, was very impressed with Muhammad Adib's performance at the event so far.

"We first saw Deep some time last year in one of the fighting promotions, which he won and impressed me immediately," said Franklin in an interview with BruSports News during his visit to the Sultanate in May.

"Deep was actually planning to come to one of our tryouts, but the schedule couldn't matchup for him and he couldn't show up. Had he been there, I am 100 per cent sure he will make the cut.

"Earlier this year I got to meet him, got to know his life, his gym, the people he trains with and all those stuff, so I am very happy to have him on board with us," he concluded.
