THE national under-19 football team are set to compete at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-19 Championship in Indonesia.
Led by team manager Hj Miramit Hj Damit, the 22-player contingent departed the International Airport in Berakas yesterday for the July 1-14 tournament to be held in Surabaya.
Brunei are pooled in group B alongside Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar and Timor Leste.
Hosts Indonesia are in group A with reigning champions Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines.
Brunei will kick off their campaign on Monday against Cambodia at the Joko Samudro Stadium in Gresik.
They will next face Timor Leste before playing Malaysia in their third match.
The national side will then take on two-time winners Myanmar in their last group match.
This year will be Brunei's eighth appearance since their first involvement in the inaugural championship back in 2002.
The country have never made it past the group stage.
Thailand won their fifth title after beating Malaysia 2-0 in last year’s final.
