HIS Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah highlighted the importance and the impact that home fans can make during the 2018 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy.
Brunei will open their Group A campaign against Timor Leste on Monday night and the president of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) hopes that the fans will be the driving force behind the team.
“It is very important (for more fans to come). We are playing on our home ground,” said HRH in an interview with BruSports News earlier this morning.
“We want all of them to come and support our team. It gives more encouragement to the team,” added the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) president.
The Sultanate are in a tough group which also comprise defending champions Myanmar and two-time champions Thailand.
HRH knows the level of difficulty but hopes that they just put up their best.
“Of course every team wants to win the match no matter what but since we are on home ground, we have the advantage,” said HRH.
“It is important that we keep our concentration, motivation and determination to win.
“Hopefully we will be able to repeat our performance like how we did in 2012,” concluded HRH.
Brunei will take on Thailand three days later before ending group stage play against Myanmar on April 30.
