Wira makes cut, Kiradech in control of Richard Mille Brunei C’Ships

PG Wirahadikusuma Pg Mohd Salleh is the only golfer left flying the Brunei fly at the Richard Mille Brunei Championships 2018 after making the cut at the US$60,000 ADT (Asian Development Tour) event.

The 32-year-old carded one-under-par 70 in the second round - trading three birdies against two bogeys - today at the Empire Hotel & Country Club in Jerudong.

He finished in joint-33rd with a two-day total of one-under-par 141 to join 43 others in the final rounds with the cut set at one-over.

“I just feel grateful I have made the cut,” said Pg Wira in an interveiw with BruSports News earlier today.

“Putting was my saviour the last two days. I hope the last days I will make an effort to finish strong,” he added.

Eight other golfers - both professional and amateur - represented the Sultanate at the March 7-10 tournament, which is the fourth competition on the ADT calendar.

Brothers Qawim and Qazzri Aslimon finished in joint-97th with their scores of nine-over-par 151.

The duo of Faiz Damit and Lai Suan Loong are in joint-101st two shots back followed by Syakir Alli on 155.

YAM Pg Muda Abdul Hakeem posted 159 while Zulhilmi Hj Rosli carded 167.

Brunei’s first professional golfer Pg S Hassanal Al-Haj PPN Pg Hj Omar round up the field with his total of 52-over-par with three holes left to complete the second round, which was suspended due to darkness.

Meanwhile, World No 36 Kiradech Aphibarnrat is four shots clear at the top of the leaderboard after firing a seven-under-par 64 in the second round.

The Thai star managed eight birdies against one bogey for a two-day total of 13-under-par 129.

American John Catlin followed with his score of 67 and shared second spot with Thailand’s Itthipat Buranatanyarat, who managed six-under through 15 holes before suspension of play.

Japan’s Masahiro Kawamura and Korean Lee Song are tied in fourth with a total of 134 while overnight co-leader Indonesian Danny Masrin dropped down to sixth position.

The competition will resume tomorrow with 21 players returning at 7am to complete their second rounds.

The third round will not start earlier than 8.45am.
