JURAMAS got their Low San Brunei Open basketball tournament off on the right foot after fending off YTExTSC 89-81 in Group A last night.
Esmond Tan (pic) came up big for Juramas with 32 points while Benjamin Lim added 14 points at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.
Voon Yiew Ting was the other in double figures in the triumph with 10 points to his name.
On the other hand, Don Mordeno topscored for YTExTSC with 17 points while Sin Lip Teck and Mak Chia Wee poured in 16 and 15 points respectively in a losing effort.
Over in Group A, Wolves also got their campaign off to a winning start after defeating TSL Construction 117-102.
A total of 18 teams are vying for the Tool Box cup in the men’s open category while four have signed up for the women’s open battling for the Sherwin-Williams cup.
Six teams are contesting in the veteran’s category for the Low San Cup.
Last night also saw the BBA honouring Ong Tiong Hwa, one of its longest serving officials, who had served as a referee until he suffered a stroke recently.
