EASYWAY started their title defence in the MK Group Cup with a 137-31 demolition of BBA in Group A last night.
American import Justin Howard poured in a game-high 36 points while Avery Scharer added 23 to his name.
The duo of Geve Leones and Kel Hung notched 17 points each while Darren Chai and Ben Sim added 15 and 12 points respectively in the lopsided win at the BBA court in Batu Bersurat.
On the other hand, Jake Chong topscored for BBA with nine points.
It was all one way traffic right from the start with BBA getting their only basket in the opening period with eight seconds left courtesy of Chongto see Easyway up 34-3 going into the second quarter.
The advantage ballooned to 73-8 at halftime and Easyway hit the century mark just before the end of the third quarter after Avery Scharer completed a self alley-oop off the backboard.
Meanwhile, Street Roc also started their Group A campaign on the right foot after running away in the second half to defeat CK & Associates 105-77.
American import Mike Fey produced a triple-double in the victory with 33 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists.
The duo of RJ Lucida and Xavier Legaspi added 17 points each while Darren Yap and Han Ming Kwang recorded 14 and 13 points respectively.
The game was close much of the opening half with Street Roc only up 48-40 at halftime before outscoring their opponents 34-19 in the third period to pull away to victory.
The competition continues today with Group B action.
Tutong Basketball will take on Walltique Sdn Bhd at 7.15pm while the second game pits YTE Morsjaya against Hainan at 8.45pm.
