KOTA Junior scored right at the death to snatch a 4-4 draw against Arbisyam FC in the Brunei Futsal League 2017 last night.
The two-time defending champions were on the verge of back-to-back defeats for the first time in the competition’s three-year history but managed two goals in the final 1min 07s to take a point from the encounter at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
Ak Muhd Khairul Huda Pg Osman gave Arbisyam the lead early on before two goals in a span of 18 seconds by Ak Muhammad Naqib Pg Timbang and Nur Yamin Hj Muhammad put Kota Junior in front heading into the interval.
Arbisyam then scored three without reply courtesy of Muhd Azizul Syafiee Tajul Arifin, Muhammad Ali Qadhrry and Ak Abu Dzar Pg Zaidi to open up a two-goal cushion with just over two minutes left in the encounter.
Nur Yamin gave Kota Junior a lifeline after netting his second from the 6m penalty spot before the late equaliser by Mohd Hazlantul Khairul to see both sides share the spoils.
In the earlier game, Shah United FC beat Eagle Blues FC 4-0 for their second victory.
Abdul Khabir Hj Ismail, Khalil Saab, Muhammad Ulfi Aminuddin and Mohd Nawawi Hj Mohd Yazid got their names on the scoresheet in the triumph.
NFT U20 (national under-20 futsal team) currently lead the eight-team standings with a maximum of nine points from three matches.
Arbisyam are a point behind having played a game more while Kota Junior and Shah United are tied on seven points.
The competition continues on tomorrow with a top of table clash between NFT U20 and Arbisyam at 7pm at the same venue.
The second match pits Eagle Blues against Rizfiz FT at 9pm.
